Transcript:::Captain’s Log, Supplemental//Stardate 2021.9.7
It’s been a while since I last recorded one of these.
<a deep sigh is recorded here>
Generally, I prefer to just submit my reports and be done with it. But I have been urged to record these once again. There’s logic behind the recording of these so here we go.
Since the last time I recorded a supplemental Captains Log, we’ve received personnel transfers.
Including a science officer assigned as a sort of assistant…I believe the term used to be Yeoman back in the 22nd. That she happens to be Colonel Nightbird partner is…somewhat concerning.
I know the Colonel is an officer of the Third Brigade command staff which is all but based out of this ship with the 301st and this being the flagship of the Third Fleet and all…But something rubs me wrong about that woman. She’s…stiff…Standoffish… And it’s not just her being an XB. Though I’m sure that plays some role in it as well. Just seems odd she’d be with someone like said Lieutenant serving as my assistant. Her frequent heavily encrypted transmissions do nothing to help that either. I’ve tried, we even have difficulty tracking where they are going…
I sort of feel that the Lieutenant may be some sort of plant…the romantic partner of the creepy-ass Third Brigade Operations Officer just so happened to be assigned as my assistant?
<an audible chuckle is recorded>
Listen to me, I sound like I’m so paranoid! Looking for ghosts in every shadow…
The recent away mission to the pre-industrial civilization in the “Larkspur” system went well. Some good data was gleaned from it. Took the Lieutenant. Another “blue shirt” perspective was valuable.
Results were dutifully transmitted back to Command. I was informed that another mission next year will likely be ordered. We will have to see.
This is so outside of what I expected. I’m a science officer for gods sakes. And here I am on a ship overrun but Starfleet Marines…out here patrolling Federation borders. Most exciting thing we’ve picked up on sensors was a lone Orion Raider with a weird sensor signature out on one of our passes of the Klingon neutral zone.
<There is a long pause here>
OH! How could I forget!
Captain Block, our morale officer, volunteered to take an away team to assist with a recent disaster on a Federation colony world hit by recent ion storms and storm surge caused flooding. The efforts continue but I receive regular reports on long-range communications.
Major General Carsten and Commander Carsten, led several scientific excursions to a different pre-industrial civilization a few dozen lightyears from the Larkspur system…what’s with these medieval/renaissance civilizations happening in such proximity out here? We’ll have to investigate that. I received report that the Carstens are under orders direct from Command to maintain frequent observation of the civilization that they’ve been undercover with during the festival seasons on the planet. Surge of population to the capital city is a good way to blend into the populace.
Disclaimer: The preceding has been a fictional telling of events onboard the USS Battle Born chapter as well as some roleplay elements thrown in for the fun of it.
Indeed – those pesky pre-industrial civilization need a lot of monitoring! Good thing they all seem to make decent ale.
